The theme for the 2008 AGIdeas poster competition was; “your mind is like a parachute, it works best when open.”
Name / Free Your Mind
Free Your Mind aims to take a playful look at the idea that the state of our planet is an issue that should be on everyone’s mind at the moment. We need to open our minds’ to the idea that we must change in order to rectify this problem.
Name /Closed Minds Breed Racism
Closed Minds Breed Racism has a darker, typographic treatment. It takes the opposite approach to the statement and aims to point out that it is our closed minded attitudes that have caused all the suffering as a result of an issue such as racism.
The idea with both posters was not to simply visualise the idea behind the theme, I wanted to use this opportunity to make a statement about issues that need to be addressed in our modern world whilst keeping to the idea that open minds bring about change.
