I came up with this image as a response for a competition to design the cover of Desktop Magazine’s July 2008 issue. I wanted to make a bold statement about the US led invasion of Iraq and the nature of
their ‘shoot-first-ask-questions-later’ foreign policy. Using the iconic image of the peace hand sign takes its cues from the 60’s anti-war movement in relation to the Vietnam war, but I’ve added a modern twist to it by contrasting it with now iconic ‘fuck you’ finger. Using the colours of the American flag to tie in with the statement.
